Before my daughter was born, I was a preschool teacher for many years. When my daughter was eighteen months old, my wife returned to work, and I became a full-time parent. In that era, I spent many of my spare hours working with web design and web programming as a hobby. Now that my daughter has moved away from home, web design has become a part-time career.
I hold a degree in elementary education from the University of Minnesota, and I have completed some graduate work in developmental psychology. I have no formal training in web design or programming, but I have worked with both informally over a period of almost twenty years.
Web design, with its unique combination of art and technology, can keep me at my computer all day long, and it very often does.
